help Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to visit Salem?
Salem is wonderful year-round! Spring and summer offer pleasant weather for walking. Fall is particularly atmospheric, with Halloween festivities throughout October. Winter is quieter but still charming, with fewer crowds and cozy stops along the way.
What about visiting during Halloween season?
October in Salem is magical - and very busy! The town transforms with decorations, street performers, and special events. We recommend booking well in advance for October dates. Note that some streets may be closed to vehicles during peak Halloween weekends, which may slightly adjust our itinerary.
Is this tour appropriate for children?
Yes! We tailor the experience to your group. For families with young children, we focus on the fun and fascinating aspects of Salem's history rather than the darker details. Kids often love the Witch House and spotting Hocus Pocus locations! That said, the Salem Witch Trials are a serious historical topic, so use your judgment based on your children's ages and sensitivities.
Please note: We cannot guarantee wheelchair or stroller accessibility of any buildings, and we do not recommend this tour if such access is required.
Is the tour spooky or scary?
This is a history tour, not a fright tour! We share the real stories of Salem - which are fascinating and sometimes unsettling - but we don't aim to scare you. The atmosphere can feel spooky, especially at the old cemetery and Witch House, but we focus on education and storytelling rather than jump scares.
How much walking is involved?
This is an active tour with 4-5 hours of walking throughout the day. Salem's historic sites are spread across the town, and we explore on foot to fully immerse you in the experience. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. If mobility is a concern, please contact us to discuss options.
Is there a shared tour option?
Yes! If you're visiting during peak season (September through November), check out our Witches & Riches: Salem Small Group Day Trip. It runs on select weekends with per-person pricing and a maximum of 9 guests.
