help Frequently Asked Questions

How much walking is involved?

This tour covers approximately 2.5 miles over 4.5 hours, with a 1-hour lunch break in the middle. You'll be walking on a mix of sidewalks, cobblestone streets, and paved paths. The pace is flexible - your private guide can slow down or speed up based on your group's needs.

We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes with good support. Bring water and dress for the weather, as most of the tour is outdoors.

Is this tour suitable for children?

Yes! This tour is excellent for families. The private format means your guide can tailor the content to be engaging for all ages. The lunch break provides a good rest point, and the variety of sites keeps everyone interested.

For younger children, consider that the walking distance is about 2.5 miles over several hours. Strollers can be used on most of the trail, though some cobblestone sections may be challenging.

Please note: We cannot guarantee wheelchair or stroller accessibility of any buildings, and we do not recommend this tour if such access is required.

What about lunch in the North End?

The tour includes an hour break in Boston's North End (Little Italy) for lunch. Your guide will provide recommendations based on your preferences - whether you want a quick slice of pizza, a sit-down Italian meal, or just a cannoli and espresso.

Lunch costs are not included in the tour price. North End restaurants range from casual ($15-20 per person) to upscale ($30-50 per person). There are also quick options like pizzerias and bakeries for those who want something faster.

Do we go inside any buildings?

The tour primarily covers exterior sites, though you can choose to enter buildings along the way. Entrance to the Old North Church is included. Other popular optional stops include the Paul Revere House ($6 adult admission).

Your guide will let you know what's available at each stop, and you can decide whether to go inside based on your interests and schedule.

Where does the tour end?

The tour ends in the North End at Copp's Hill Terrace, where you'll have views of the USS Constitution and Bunker Hill Monument across the harbor. From there you're right in the heart of the North End, steps from great restaurants, shops, and public transit (Haymarket station is a short walk away).
